Family Vacation to The Mall of America. Bloomington - MN - US

Our family had always talked of taking a short shopping trip to the Mall of America. For a family in Florida, this is not your typical trip. So, in late April last year, we decided to make this happen.


I had accumulated enough frequent flyer miles over the past few years, to get us four tickets to fly direct from from Orlando Internation Airport to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We flew on Northwest and the flight was enjoyable for a almost 3.5 hour flight. The staff on board was very helpful and friendly.


Once we arrived at Minneapolis, we took a taxi to our planned hotel that was withing walking distance to the Mall of America. Our hotel was the AmeriSuites Mall of America, Bloomington. Per Yahoo, this is the #6 rated hotel in Bloomington. I do not know what this hotel would need to do to rank higher, as it was a complete pleasure to stay here. From the very clean and well furnished hotels, to the complimentary (FREE!) breakfast that included cook as you wait waffles, sausage and eggs, as well as many other breakfast choices, which is not the norm if you travel. I could not have been any happier with the hotel.


The next morning, we took a cab to the Mall of America as we were not sure of the best way to get there. We could see if from our upper floor room, but did not want to get lost our first morning. The cab driver was very friendly and got us to the mall in less than 5 minutes. I believe the cab fare was $3.50.


If you have not been to the Mall of America, it is a sight to see. The largest mall in the US, it is a great shoppin mall that also includes things for all age ranges. Not only is it a great shopping mall, it is a fun entertainment complex which includes musical performances, movie premiers, The Park at MOA, which is a small theme park inside of the mall. Yes, a theme park inside of the mall. It includes rollercoasters, water rides, carousel's and much more.


The mall includes many dining establishments, chains and other wise. You can spend a full day in the mall and fail to see all that is there to see.


We called it a day and went back to the motel. The hotel served a very nice dinner and off to our suite. At Amerisuites, all rooms are suites.
