Artice of the week:
After breakfast at the hotel, we started the next day with a early walk to the Mall. A few more rounds at the amusement park and back to explore the mall. On the upper floor of the mall they have a Wedding chapel. In the front of the store you can buy supplies for your wedding, and in the back they have a small chapel where you can get married, right in the mall. It was a fun store to see. They also have a movie theater on the top floor and the Nascar Silicon Motor Speedway. An experience that any race fan or auto fan will enjoy. You are loaded into one of about 15 different cars. The car is a shell of a race car, painted like one of the stars of the Nascar circuit. Once in, you are belted into the seat. In front of your is a large video screen. Once the cars start, you are lifted up by a hydrolic system that moves your car left and right and all different angles simulated your moves on the race track. After a few laps, you truly believe that you are on the track. It is a lot of fun, but can get expensive quick.
That afternoon we took a taxi into the city of Minneapolis. Minneapolois is a major city and has many sites of a large city. One of the interesting things we saw was the tube system that connects many of the major buildings downtown. Makes walking through downtown much easier when the snow and cold of winters comes along. We also visited some of the lessor known sites like Lock and Dam No. 1. The construction of Lock and Dam No. 1 was completed in 1917. The 30-foot high dam provided 9 1/2-foot channel from St. Paul to Minneapolis. Reconstruction of the dam took place in 1929 and then again from 1978 to 1983. It was very interesting.
The next day we had to head back to Florida. It was a very fun, but short trip that our family enjoyed. I am pretty sure that we had seen all that we had planned to see, plus a bit more, but we all would of liked to had stayed one more day.
