Artice of the week:
A few years back, before my wife and I had children, we decided to take a fun vacation and forget about budget. That was hard for me, as I tend to want to look for the best rates.
Well we considered a couple of exotic locations, but finally settled on Savannah Georgia. Yes, I know, Georgia does not seem like a place to go for a budget busting vacation, but it was a place that my wife had been to before and always wanted us both to go. We enjoy seeing places that are important to the History of the US as well as visiting historic districts in many places.
Well, we decided as it was a early summer trip, it would be nice to travel in a convertable. As we did not have one, we rented a Mustang Convertable for the trip. Something we would not usually do, but seemed like it would add a little extra fun to the trip. We are about 4.5 hours from the outside of Savannah, so the drive would not be bad.
On Wednesday morning we picked up our Red Mustang Convertable and headed towards Savannah. The ride started out nice, but once you hit the highway and speeds get up around 70, the wind was a little much, so the top went back up. Still, it was fun while it lasted.
The trip was uneventful other than the top and we arrived in Savannah on schedule. We arrange to stay at the Westin Inn Savannah Harbor. It is a very beautiful hotel, right on the Savannah river and next to the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.
There are many interesting things to see in Savannah. On our first day we took a trolley tour through town for a view of things from the roads. The tour guide on board was very fun and seem to really know and have an interest in the historic areas of Savannah. It was a very informative and enjoyable tour. Upon returning to our hotel that day, we had an enjoyable dinner at the hotel. Once dinner was complete, we went out and set by the pool and watched the harbour. I saw something that I had never seen before while we were setting out there. One of the very large freighter ships. I knew that they must be big, but I could have never imagined a ship this large traveling the world.
